What I Want in a HydroFoam

I have figured out what I want, I want unlimited vertical climbing ability.
That about says it all, now finding out which hydrofoam will give that to you is turning out to be a problem.

More than 2 out of 3 sites show video from hydro-foams that they are not selling, they have a super cool video of one of the powerful models then try and sell you a watered down version that can’t do any of the things you see on the video.

So looking into building my own hydrofoam, and it’s turning out to be a lot more complicated than I thought.

Some of the problems are…. You really can’t just put in a larger motor and get all the power you want.

Because a larger motor takes a larger battery, and then you have to have a larger propeller to with the right amount of pitch to match, if you don’t have these then your just adding more weight for nothing.

Also, you have to be concerned about how much power your motor is drawing, will it heat up too much? Will it heat the battery up too much? Will it pull so much that the battery can only last for a short time.

You need power but it has to be useable power and practical at the same time. So every time you change your motor, then it looks like you will probably end up changing the prop and battery also to try and match.

Anyway, here is one I ran across today with a video that looked good:

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/hydro3d.htm - this one looks like a lobster which I don’t really like, and it is very expensive and large 31 inches long and 21 inches wide, and $550
but the video shows the actual boat, and it looks like it handles much better than a lot of hydro-foams.
It is called the Graupner "Hydro Plane 3D"
