Tips for flying a HydroFoam Boat

When you are first learning, you have to be very careful about over steering.
Set your elevons to 3/8" up max and 3/8" down for a total of 3/4" to start with, reason being, they are very easy to over control, and to much throw will cause it to stall, and fall out of the air,
The rudder, you can use the maximum movement, you will need that for ground handling, you won’t need to use the rudder when flying,
For taking off, make sure not to bring it up at to steep of a angle, or your hydrofoam will stall.
To start try and fly more than 50 feet off the ground as soon as possible. This gives you more room for errors, before you hit the ground. Make big wide slow turns,
Land fast, as you need the airflow for easier handling.
Most hydrofoams have little or no glide, so you have to keep the throttle on all the time in the air.
Don’t come in too steep when landing,
The CG (center of gravity) should be at the carbon rod at the front or a little in front of it. Much closer to the front of the plane than most other types of planes.
Always turn the transmitter on first, then hook up the lipo on the hydro, make sure the throttle is in the off position, then after done flying, disconect the hydro battery first, then turn off the transmitter, Radio on first and off last, if not, you will reprogram the ESC and make the servos chatter,
Batteries
Read a couple times that you should always charge your batteries right after you use your plane. Especially LiPo batteries.
Be Careful Charging Batteries
Just read about a guy who plugged in his charger then left his house to run to the store, when he got back his house was on fire, because the batter overheated and caught fire.
It also burned up his hydro-foam boat which the batteries were in at the time.
Some people suggest that you remove your batteries from your boat, and place them in a metal box (incase they catch on fire).
At the time I was reading this, I had 3 planes in my car charging up. I immediately got them out and now I don’t charge anything that is unattended anymore.
Modifications to the Hydro-Form
1. Remove the spring from the remote control - this allows you to maintain a constant engine speed, and makes it easier on your thumb.
