Today I figured out something really important…

First you have to learn how not to fly.

The hydro at a certain speed has a tendency to jump up in the air between 5 to 10 feet, then not wanting it to fly or take off, the natural reaction is to cut the power this makes it crash.

And that’s how I have destroyed my first hydrofoam before I got a chance to really learn how to use it.

The first thing I should have done was found a large paved flat parking lot and then learn how to run it without flying.

Keeping it on the ground is a lot harder than it seems like it should be.

Tomorrow I am going to try adjusting the rear elevators so that they have a slight downward push.

Then I can use the rudder to steer with, tonight I tried to pay attention to where they elevators were, but when your moving the rudder control from side to side it’s hard to remember to keep the elevators a quarter inch up or down at the same time.

I guess at some point the skill can be learned, but I would say it’s pretty difficult.

I think this is a key breakthrough, since I have been destroying my hydrofoam on the grass.  The next one I will only run on a parking lot until I learn how it flies, then once I have some good flying skills then I will try it on the grass, or water.

I bought my hydrofoam from GiantGadGets on eBay, today I send them an email asking about their 30 day warrantee, so far they have not responded.

I was really hoping I could talk them into selling me one at a discount for the broken one I got, but it’s starting to look like they may not answer their emails.

The funny thing is that today the motor broke, it just lost power when I was putting along on the sidewalk, then when I got home and looked at it, I noticed that it was loose.

I am going to try and buy a tiny wrench and take the mounts off the motor and see if I can fix it, it’s possible that something just came loose and can be tightened back up.
