The first thing I noticed was that it was packed very well, it was in a sold block of foam that really protected it.
I will keep this to carry it around, because my wife threw a bag of groceries over the seat and it landed on my mini XPV plane, if this had happened to my RCV hydro it probably would have destroyed it.
So I need to protect it in a box anytime I put it in the car to go anywhere.
The remote control is really wedged in place so I am not sure if I am going to try and cut the opening out larger and carry it there also, or just carry it separately.
Anyway, my first run was a real success, I powered on the remote control Plugged the battery in, It made some music noises, Then it started making a noise like a power boat running in the distance.
That really worried me, but it stopped making that noise after a minute or so and it worked fine.
It has a lot of power, no problem running around on the wet grass.
Other than when it comes to a stop and you start up again it really leans forward and the prop comes very close to the ground and it cuts into the grass.
It works best if you just rev up the motor a little while you are holding it a few inches above the ground then let it kind of fly out of your hand.
This gets it going without the prop hitting anything, then you just have to keep the speed up and try not to let it come to a stop.
The problem I had was it kept going to fast and kept trying to take off.
I found if you keep turning it often then it does not build up so much speed.
I also figured out at the exact wrong moment that my right rudder does not work much but the left one works fine.
I found this out when I got to the end of the field and tried to make a right turn,
My HydroFoam became airborne and ran off the field.
There was about a 5 foot drop at the end of the field and that’s where it rolled over on it’s back and crashed into the ground.
I was sure it was destroyed, but I turned it back over and it didn’t have a mark on it.
I really thought I was being careful, but it looks like I am going to have to be a lot more careful than I was.
I also learned today that the batteries can easily catch on fire, so be careful when charging them.
