Ordering YAK 55 Parts

I just realized that I have all the parts to build my YAK except a ESC (electronic speed controller)

I thought I had ordered one, but now I think that I put one in a shopping cart on one site, then ended up buying all the other parts from another site and just didn’t get the ESC ordered.

Or it might have been the site that was out of stock on the one that I wanted.

And now I can’t remember what kind of motor I have,

Just found it and it is a 2409-12 now I just need to go to my favorite sellers at ebay and from there I have a link to

http://stores.ebay.com/Heads-Up-RC

which is a great place to get information about motors (and a good place to buy them also)

The 2409-12 with some of the 6 inch props uses around 19 or 20 amps
Then with the 8 and 9 inch props it uses 20 to 23.5 amps

So they recommend a 32 amp ESC.

Could probably get away with a 25 amp ESC if you only use a 6 inch prop, or The GWS EP7035 prop produces about 18 ounces of thrust at 11  amps

I have a 32 amp ESC, but I have all ready soldered all the wires onto another plane, so I don’t really want to redo all my work since it is working at the moment.

I bought some bullet connectors at the auto parts store so that I can just plug in this motor then I can unplug it if I decided to move the motor or ESC, if this works it will be really nice and easy to switch.

I just realized that the parts I need to finish my YAK are kind of spread around different places, that’s why I didn’t realize I didn’t actually have a ESC for it.

Or I had one then used it on another plane, depending on how you want to look at it.

I think I remember the problem, hobbycity.com has a towerpro ESC 30 amp for $13.95 but they are out of stock with -14 on backorder at the moment.

So I wanted that price but I don’t want to wait for them to get another shipment in.

the rest of the ESC are either too small, too expensive, or out of stock.

Towerhobbies has a 35 amp SEC for 40.99 but now I really don’t want to pay more than a dollar an amp, I guess it really is a bad way to make a decision on what ESC I am going to buy, but it now looks to me that if your paying $1 per amp that is kind of expensive.

.50 cents per amp is probably a good deal, so if I can find a 35 amp SEC for around $17.50 I would be happy.

the main problem with Tower hobbies is that they have too much stuff, and it’s really hard to narrow it down, so I always end up doing a bunch of searches and then looking though 200 to 500 items a page at a time and then not really finding what I want, but spending a whole lot of time.

Then after I buy the item someplace else within a couple weeks I will stumble across it at towerhobbies for the same price I paid or less.

Kind of reminds me of a giant warehouse completely full of thousands of items, but you have to hunt through everything to try and find anything.
