Now that I have used my hydrofoam a couple of times it is pretty busted up.
I really thought I could run it and just be very careful, but now I see that’s really really unlikely.
The fine line between driving on the ground and flying is so thin that it’s almost impossible to do one and not the other.
I have been looking for ways to repair my HydroFoam and a lot of people are recommending
- Hot glue
- Gorrilla glue – works good on eps, depron, & epp
- Sumo glue - Locktite brand at LOWES
I have read that 3/4 inch scotch tape will work on EPP foam as a hinge, but I just tired 2 inch tape, and it doesn't work very well. It will stick on very flat surfaces but any curve at all and the will loosen then whole piece of tape.
These are the general classes of foam:
EPP- Expanded poly propelene (very flexible and resistant to chemicals in most adhesives.) We make the stiffys out of EPP, but they need to be skinned or sparred to become rigid.
EXPS Extruded Poly styrene. The closed cell foam we know as Cellfoam/Depron/FFF.
EPP Expanded Poly Propylene EPP foam doesn't dent or break. It has a "spongy" quality to it, so on impact it compresses and pops back to shape.
EPS Expanded Poly styrene The (generaly) white foam that is made up of the little foam balls. can be glued with PVA glue (the white wood glue). EPS is light but brittle.
