FCC License For Your Cobra 6000 WX

At first I was worried about the warnings that you have to buy a license to use this device and the FCC can impose sever penalties if you don’t have your license.

Then after I started thinking about it for a while I realized that this thing only transmits for about a half mile.

This means that in order for someone to catch you they must be somewhere within that half mile and have equipment running that is looking for you position when you turn on your radio.

Then they have to catch you with the radio, what are the odds that someone from the FCC is going to be running around Wal-Mart searching for a signal on the same channel. Then have equipment that can track you down?
