Delta Scratch Built Plane
I was thinking that my Miss Hydro is going to be here in a couple days but with $350 invested I am a little nervous about flying it into the ground and destroying everything.
So today I was looking around and I found some information on a Delta Plane that is cheap to build. I really did not want to get into building planes, but it looks like if your going to be involved in this hobby at all then you are really going to have to learn how to build and repair them.
Also, when I ran across this information it made me think that I could do this, it looks pretty easy.
And it would not cost $400 to build, which is a plus, and then once you have it built you may destroy the body but that only takes 1 or 2 days plus $3 dollars to rebuild.
And your not likely to destroy all your electronics at the same time anyway, so then you can just order what you need.
The last thing is that the motor this person was using looks like it only costs around $15 or something like that, so it’s not one of the $65 dollar ones plus shipping. That makes a huge difference in the overall cost of the plane.

motor for your delta:
www.bizingo.com/m/GITech/p/1570kv-bm240912.asp
a nice motor is the 2408-21 Heads Up Rc has them at a great price, or if you want a little more power a 2409-12 is a 2408 with a turbo both will work great on a small foamy, use a 30 amp ESC, best to over kill the ESC and you will never have any problems, and a 1320 mah battery 11.1 v or there abouts here is Heads up Rc link, tell jeff that Chellie sent you
http://stores.ebay.com/Heads-Up-RC - has good prices and good selection of parts. CHELLIE – buys batteries, ESC, good prices.

www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4853 – motor esc and prop for $14.49 plus shipping, this is the minimum to run a delta.

delta wing – 5mm form board 20 x 30 from Michaels
can also use 6mm depron
Delta Notes from Chellie:
cut the shaft flush with the prop saver, less metal out there to act as leverage to bend the shaft,
a CG of 7 to 7 1/2 " should be a good place to start, rolling to the back would be a cg to far back, or you are giving it to much up, where is the cg
buy 2 motors, I always have a spare motor around, they are cheap enough, like $12.00 each, and it saves the mailing time,
try this, I started flying my delta with a CG of 6" it might be easier for you to fly with a cg forward more, then you can move it back, with a cg forward it is less responsive, and you will have to land faster, but it might help in getting the feel of the delta, with a 2 cell lipo you will need a bigger prop to get the thrust needed to fly, check with Heads up rc, and see what he recommends with a 2 cell lipo, he has a chart with his motor ad,
